Get to know LaToya Shambo—Influencer Marketing Expert and founder of award-winning agency Black Girl Digital

If alignment were a person, it would be LaToya Shambo. For 17-plus years, Shambo made her mark by working with brands, ad networks, and agencies like Havas, Complex Media, and Oscar-winner Spike Lee’s DDB.

Shambo married her business acumen with her devotion to seeing Black women win in the online space. In 2016, the Fashion Institute & Technology graduate launched BLACK GIRL DIGITAL, INC. as the solution to Black and Brown influencers being grossly underpaid in comparison to their white counterparts. Shambo’s BLACK GIRL DIGITAL, an award-winning agency, is a premium integrated influencer marketing agency on a mission to close the industry’s pay equity gap. And it’s working. BLACK GIRL DIGITAL has brokered brand deals for more than 300 Black and multicultural content creators; and delivered over 50 million social media impressions.

The rising thought leader with an enlightened perspective on diversity, equity, inclusion, and the power of influencer marketing has been tapped to share her views with For (bes) The Culture, Bloomberg TV, Yahoo! Finance, The L.A. Times, Apple News, Sheen, Fox Soul, and Adweek. To work toward its goal of closing the pay gap, Shambo and Black Girl Digital is focused on two main areas: increasing visibility and opportunities amongst Black creators and providing access to education and information. Through these pillars, Black Girl Digital aims to reduce the racial pay gap by 15% by 2025.

And the advertising industry is taking notice of BLACK GIRL DIGITAL’s imprint. During Adweek’s Creator Visionary event, BLACK GIRL DIGITAL won the coveted 2022 Breakthrough Agency or Brand award.

Shambo is a supermom to a pre-teen daughter with special needs. They’re living their best lives in Georgia.
